PROGRAMS OF STUDY > CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is approved through the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals, that prepares student’s the fundamentals of providing care to patients who need assistance with daily living tasks. CNA’s generally work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and provide vital information to medical staff of patients condition. Students will apply their knowledge and skills during a clinical externship at a hospital or long-term care faciity.

 

 

Length: 6-8 Weeks, Day/Time: 3 Nights/Week, 6pm-9pm, Clinicals: 40 Hours

 

Must obtain CPR Certification

 

CNA ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS:  

-Complete an Application ($30 registration fee) and meet with the Admissions officer

-State Criminal Background Check (must go to Baton Rouge to obtain)

-Photo ID

-High School Diploma or GED

-Immunization Records (MMR and TD and Hepatitis B Series)

-TB Test Results

-Physical Exam/Medical Clearance

-Drug Screen Results

-Tuition Payment due in full

-All new students must attend New Student Orientation and provide all required documents, prior to class start date.

 

SUPPLIES REQUIRED:    

-Stethoscope (approx. $15)  

-Watch With a Second Hand  

-Blood Pressure Cuff (approx. $12)  

-Skill Video Set (New Video- retail price: $60.00 / Used DVD's start at $15 )

 

TEXTBOOKS ARE NEEDED ON THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS:   

New Textbook retail price: approx. $55/Workbook: $35 

 

UNIFORM:

Women: Red scrub set with white close toed shoes

Men: Black scrub set with white close toed shoes
